OBIT: Henry E. Lucas Funeral Held; Veteran Resident of Area

This ran in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on Jan. 13, 1960.  Henryu Lucas was one of the very first employees of the Los Alamitos Sugar Factory and he ascted as a watchman at the plant through the company’s final days.  After it was sold, he continued as the plant’s watchman for the new owners, at least until 1955, when he is cited and quoted in an article on the sugar factory in the Auto Club’s Westways Magazine.

Henry E. Lucas Funeral Held; Veteran Resident of Area

Funeral service for Henry E. Lucas, 83, of 10642 Los Alamitos Blvd, resident of this area since 1906, was to be at 3:30pm today in Backs, Troutman & Kaulbars Mortuary, Anaheim.  He died Sunday.

Lucas, a native of Glenwood, Kan., came to Los Angeles in 1893.  He was employed by the Los Alamitos Sugar Co., no longer operative, for many years.

Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Elmer McWilliams, Mrs. Dan Williams, Mrs. Merrill Hunt, and Mrs. Jere Foutz, and a son, Perry.
