Los Alamitos Civic Leader passes Away after Long Siege of Cancer

LOS ALAMITOS— One of Los Alamitos’ most active civic leaders, Paul (Bob) Robinson, passed away Sunday in Seaside Hospital, following several months of suffering from cancer. He was 56 years old.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Community Congregational Church of Los Alamitos with the Rev. Lawrence S. Jones officiating.  Mottell’s and Franks mortuary of Long Beach handled the funeral arrangements.  Interment followed at Westminster memorial Park.

“Bob,” as he was known to all his many friends in the area, was born in Runnellsm Iowa and had lived in Long Beach and Los Alamitos for 32 years.  He was the owner of Bob Robinson Oil Well Equipment Company, with headquarters in Long Beach.  His home was 11102 Maple, Los Alamitos.

He was constantly participating in some civic event or organization in Los Alamitos, having been especially active in the Chamber of Commerce and the Los Alamitos Business Association.  He held many offices in both groups, and was past president of the association for several terms until recently.

Organizations he belonged to were the Petroleum Club of Long Beach, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Pilgrim Shrine in Hawthorne, the Long Beach Consistory, Lakewood Shrine Club, El Beckel Temple, Long Beach, Los Alamitos Marin-Davis unit 716, Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce and the Business Association.  He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include hs widow, Mrs. La Belle Robinson, a son, Robert; two brothers, Ralph, of San Pedro, and Carl, of Des Moines, Iowa.

Graveside Services were conducted by Long Beach Lodge 327, F & AM.

Rev. Jones announced that a Memorial Fund is being raised for Mr. Robinson and friends wishing to contribute are asked to send the money to the Community Congregatinal Church, Los Alamitos.
