1995 – Nov. – LATV Known for Great Coverage of Los Al Griffins Football Games

from the News-Enterprise, Nov. 30, 1995;

Los Alamitos Television/Channel 3’s recent coverage of the Sunset League and CIF Southern Section Division I Football Playoffs has been featured  regularly on broadcast stations such as KNBC-Ch. 4.  But last Friday’s contest between the Los Al Griffins and the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits was very special.

When head coach John Barnes began “The Streak” in 1991, LATV was there.  In fact the local cable station helped pioneer local broadcasts of high school sports in the Orange County area.  This year’s LATV “Game of the Week” coverage includes sophisticated computer graphics, slow-motion instant replays and wireless microphone interviews direct from the field.  Sportscasters Denny Siegel, Len Venger, Fritz Pollard and Willie Padilla provide professional announcing to this fine-tuned package.

“It’s amazing how close our educational; program parallels this team’s success,” commented LATV Station Manager Daniel Smith.  “Students in the Orange County High School of the Arts Video Technologies Program help crew all our shows.  This week’s kudos go to OCHSA students Autumn Burkey and Michael Simon.  LATV Crew must work their way up… and then suddenly, the opportunity has arrived; now you are expected to perform.  Both Michael and Autumn are new to the LATV program this year, they stepped up to the occasion ansd delivered good camera work that is worthy of acknowledgement.”

“This community provides a tremendous amount of support for our local cablecasts.  Our Los Alamitos vs. Long Beach Poly game will be seen in tens of thousands of households — througjout Los Alamtios, Rossmoor, Seal Beach, Garden Grove and Long Beach,” added freelance producer Jeffrey Peters.

“The LATV coverage of this year’s CIF Southern Section football payoffs is made possible by our sponsors: Webb Automotive Group, Barr Lumber Company, Orange County Container, Brewster’s S0uthwest Grill & Sportsbar, Joe Partise Insurance Services, and Fio Rito’s Italian Restaurant.”

The next LATV Game of the Week/CIF semi-final Round featuring the Los Alamitos Griffins versus the Mater Dei Monarchs can be seen Friday, Dec. 2, at 8pm, Saturday, Dec. 3 at nmoon and again on Monday, Dec. 5 at 8pm.
